As the World Cup nears its conclusion, several London clubs are intensifying their efforts in the transfer market. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham are among those actively working to secure new players.

Arsenal are reportedly in renewed discussions regarding Julian Alvarez, with speculation also linking them to a potential swap deal involving Viktor Gyokeres. The club is also anticipated to make an offer for Christos Tzolis, following an agreement to transfer Leandro Trossard to Besiktas. Additionally, Arsenal continues to pursue Morgan Rogers, Bruno Guimaraes, and Andria Bartishvili.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Alvarez and Tzolis

Arsenal appears to have received a boost in their ongoing pursuit of Julian Alvarez. Recent reports indicate that the Gunners have re-entered talks with Atletico Madrid for the former Manchester City and current Argentina striker. Contact has reportedly been re-established between the two clubs, though their valuations of Alvarez currently differ. The player is said to be open to a move to Arsenal if his preferred transfer to Barcelona does not materialise this summer.

The interest in Alvarez comes as Arsenal had previously considered other targets, including Bradley Barcola. However, Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly keen to retain the young star, leading Arsenal to refocus on Alvarez. The club’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, is involved in negotiations with his former club, Atletico Madrid.

An offer from Arsenal for Christos Tzolis is also expected soon. The Gunners are reportedly interested in bringing the Club Brugge winger back to English football. This potential transfer would create space in their squad, following the confirmed agreement for Leandro Trossard‘s move to Besiktas. Reports suggest that Tzolis could be available for around £30m, and this move would be in addition to any potential acquisitions of other high-profile forwards like Julian Alvarez.

Chelsea and Manchester United target defensive and midfield reinforcements

Chelsea is actively pursuing defensive reinforcements, with reports suggesting they have made an offer for Alvaro Carreras. The club has been attempting to sign Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria, aiming to fill the void left by Marc Cucurella‘s departure. However, difficulties in agreeing on a fee for Chavarria may have led Chelsea to turn their attention to Carreras. An initial approach to Real Madrid for the former Manchester United defender was reportedly followed by an offer of approximately £21.3m, which is said to be below Madrid‘s asking price of around £42.6m.

Manchester United is continuing its midfield restructuring efforts, with a focus on signing France international Manu Kone. The club has already welcomed Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, along with goalkeeper Karl Darlow. Tielemans joined in a £35million deal, signing a five-year contract after a release clause was triggered. United, however, withdrew from a deal for Ederson, who has since been offered a new contract by Atalanta. Liverpool is also reportedly in contention for Kone, alongside Atletico Madrid, as Roma looks to make player sales.

In other transfer news, Liverpool has held new discussions with Paris Saint-Germain regarding Bradley Barcola. The France forward has emerged as a key target for the start of the Andoni Iraola era at Anfield, particularly after it became clear that RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande preferred PSG. PSG is reportedly keen to offload Barcola, who is interested in a move to Merseyside. Liverpool is seeking to replace Mohamed Salah, having already secured Spain winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna.

Bournemouth has reportedly been offered Antonio Silva, the highly-rated Benfica defender. Tottenham has also entered the race to sign Neco Williams, currently at Nottingham Forest.
