North London Transfer Interests
Arsenal are reportedly targeting Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers as their primary attacking acquisition. The 23-year-old England international is expected to be the subject of an approach from Arsenal, though his potential transfer fee could exceed £100m. Rogers, who was previously of interest to Chelsea, signed a new six-year contract in November, extending until the summer of 2031. Last season, Rogers made 55 appearances across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists. He also earned the UEFA Europa League Player of the Season award after contributing a goal and an assist in the 3-0 final victory over Freiburg in Istanbul. Aston Villa are understood to value Rogers at £130m.
Arsenal, the reigning Premier League champions, recently converted defender Piero Hincapie’s loan from Bayer Leverkusen into a permanent transfer, activating a £34.5m option. The club is also reportedly interested in Georgian Under-21 international Andria Bartishvili. These moves indicate that Arsenal is looking to strengthen its squad as the World Cup concludes, with England facing France in the bronze medal match and Spain playing Argentina in the final.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have reportedly rejected a £46m bid from Newcastle United for their 20-year-old Sweden midfielder, Lucas Bergvall. Spurs are also said to be interested in signing Netherlands winger Crysencio Summerville from West Ham. Summerville, 24, may become available following West Ham’s relegation. With a summer of significant signings, Tottenham may see some players depart, including 28-year-old Argentina defender Cristian Romero.
Other European Transfer Speculations
Elsewhere in Europe, Real Madrid are reportedly interested in Bayern Munich and France winger Michael Olise, 24, who is said to be open to a move to the Bernabeu. Chelsea would need to spend £55m to acquire Crystal Palace and France defender Maxence Lacroix, 26, this summer.
Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah, 34, an Egypt forward, is expected to continue his career in Turkey, with reports suggesting he will sign for Besiktas. Manchester United are considering Nottingham Forest wing-back Neco Williams, 25, an England international capable of playing on either flank. Manchester United and Newcastle United are also interested in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 22-year-old Sweden midfielder Hugo Larsson, though neither club has made an offer yet.
Bayern Munich has granted 31-year-old Portugal midfielder Joao Palhinha additional time before he needs to return to the club, as he is no longer part of Vincent Kompany’s plans. Aston Villa are interested in acquiring Palhinha. Juventus has offered Aston Villa 6.5m euros (£5.5m) for 33-year-old Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, but Villa are seeking 12m euros (£10.2m).
Juventus is reportedly leading the pursuit for Monaco and United States forward Folarin Balogun, 25, with Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland also showing interest. Celta Vigo and Guinea midfielder Ilaix Moriba, 23, has been offered to several clubs including Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa, and Hull. He could be available for approximately 20m euros (£17m).
Aston Villa are nearing a deal for Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes from Wolves for £38m. They have also reportedly secured a club-record £50m transfer for Freiburg’s Switzerland international Johan Manzambi, who performed well at the World Cup.
Morgan Rogers started for England in their semi-final defeat by Argentina and provided an assist for Anthony Gordon’s opening goal.
